Two teens were charged with murder in the death of a 75-year-old
man in Covington County.

Covington County Undersheriff Lane McLaurin said 15-year-old Jamar Lamon Hayes, of Mount Olive, and 16-year-old Dontavis Shired Magee, of Gulfport, are charged as adults in the case.

McLaurin said the investigation into the death of Jessie Lee Doby has been going on for more than a month.

On June 3, Doby was transported to the hospital with head injuries.

Covington County Coroner Chris Daquila said Doby died at Forrest General Hospital two days later.

He said an autopsy determined Doby died from blunt force trauma. Daquila said the death was then ruled a homicide.

McLaurin said investigators later determined Doby was the victim of a robbery and assault.

According to McLaurin, Hayes was arrested July 12 in Covington County. U.S. Marshals arrested Magee in Gulfport on Sunday.

Both suspects have made initial court appearances before Judge Bobby Wayne Mooney.

Their bonds were set at $1 million.

McLaurin said Hayes and Magee are being held at the Covington County Jail.
