Egyptian security powers kept a man on Tuesday after an unstable gadget exploded close to the United State Embassy in central Cairo, three security sources said.

Sources said no losses were accounted for.

A witness said she heard an impact and afterward observed a man with a rucksack that had burst into flames near the Semiramis Hotel, over the street from the Embassy premises.

Witness likewise said the man was then tossed to the ground by security powers as the fire was quenched.

The US Embassy in Cairo said on its Twitter account that it knew about a revealed episode and requested that individuals stay away from the territory.

The territory was cordoned off by security powers not long after the occurrence and there was a bizarrely substantial police nearness with many officers adjacent, Reuters witnesses said.
